DeWalt "De" Willard, of Willard Agri-Service of Frederick, Inc. located in Frederick, Maryland, received the ARA Lifetime Achievement Award. De's career spans six decades. In the 1950's, he bought a John Deere dealership. In the 1960's, he closed the implement business; and continued farming and did custom harvesting with three combines. In 1970, he stated his first liquid fertilizer business in Frederick, Maryland. He later diversified his portfolio by buying a car dealership, and expanding his business by partnering with his three sons. Today he has five retail fertilizer businesses with his sons, Bob and Billy, and five car dealerships, numerous rental properties and in his spare time he still farms 2,000 acres.
